At Bons Kisses de Paname, all our shoes are made of leather. We chose this material for its quality, comfort and aesthetic appearance. That said, leather being a living and fragile material, it is important to maintain it with care to preserve the quality of your shoes. Here are the fundamentals for maintaining your shoes:
Put on your shoes using a shoe horn to avoid deforming the back of your sneakers and damaging the finishes, especially if the back is decorated with sequins or embroidery.
Place a shoe tree or balls of newspaper in the bottom of your shoes when you are not wearing them, this will help maintain their original shape.
If they have been exposed to rain, let them dry in the open air and away from a heat source.
Machine wash your laces regularly by placing them in a washing net.
Material advice
Whatever the material of your shoes, always start by removing the laces if they have them and dusting them using a clean cloth or brush. You can insert a shoe tree or balls of newspaper inside to help you.
Take care not to damage the embroidery, patches and sequins that adorn our shoes when you clean them.
Smooth leather
Smooth leather does not need to be waterproofed.
To maintain your smooth leather shoes, dust them with a brush or clean cloth. Clean them by applying a colorless cream using a clean cloth, and using circular movements. Leave to dry for 30 minutes then shine your shoes by buffing the leather with a clean cloth.
Pony-style leather
On this leather, we kept the hair and printed an animal pattern on it.
It does not need to be waterproofed. To clean it, simply use a brush. If there is a stain, rub gently with a damp cloth.
Sweden
Velvety leathers are more fragile than smooth leathers.
Waterproof your suede shoes before wearing them for the first time.
For small stains, use a suede eraser or brush.
Velvet or satin
Velvet and satin are delicate materials that do not tolerate contact with rain or snow very well, so be sure to wear your velvet or satin shoes in dry weather. You can use a protective anti-stain spray to protect them. Avoid putting them in the washing machine, this will damage the leather and soles of your shoes.
In glitter
Waterproof your glitter shoes before wearing them for the first time.
To maintain them, dust them by rubbing gently with a clean cloth or brush, taking care not to damage the glitter.
